British Museum


The British Museum or formally known as the 'House of Curiosities' was founded by the efforts of Sir Hans Sloane in the year 1753. The Museum accommodates over 13 million exhibits that is spread over various galleries. Besides, its permanent galleries there are few galleries reserved for temporary exhibitions that take place every now and then.

It does not only accommodate exhibits reflecting the human development in Britain but all over the world inclusive of Africa, Asia as well. The British Museum also incorporated a huge reading room that is a delight for the scholars worldwide. It even has a gift shop that has novelties for the tourists to take them along as souvenirs.

The visiting hours of the British Museum are from 10 a.m. up to 5:30 p.m., with no admission fee. The British Museum is opened till late on Thursdays and Fridays.
