Edinburgh Castle & Holyrood House

Edinburgeh Castle dates back to the 12th century that overlooks the city. It houses the crown jewels of Scotland besides the Stone of Destiny that was placed on November 30th 1996. At 1 p.m. Everyday a gun is traditionally fired from Edinburgh Castle.

Palace of Holyrood House was constructed by James IV in the year 1499, and since then has been associated with the royal family. It is the official Scottish residence of Queen Elizabeth II, when HRH spends a few weeks in the span of May and July. While the Queen is away, some of the sections of the House are open to public with conducted guided tours.
